    I like A.

A–no question, evacuate the building first!!! People come first, then other procedures.

i would think D if it means calling the fire department. do you even know how to turn the electricity off in your house let alone the building you work in?

  4. Angel_Blue says:

    “A” — that’s a no-brainer

If the alarm is going off, 911 has already sent someone; as for the other picks, none of them. That’s what the fire dept. is for.

  5. Dan H says:

If the alarm is going off, evacuation has already started.

The first thing would then be Call the emergency personnel.

A fire extinguisher is irrelevant against a major fire.
Unless you are a fire company, determining the type of fire will only get someone killed.
The electricity is generally irrelevant to a major fire.

DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDif a fire alarm is going off.. evacuation is already started.. CALL THE FIREMEN. im sure that the fire alarm already triggers the firemenin buildings such as chool and big corporate building and things like such. (that what happens at school anyway.) have you ever noticed when a firedrill isnt schedualed the firemen come anyway. and staff dont call. i think…. its like triggered by something. next would be the firemen who im sure dont turn off the electricity unless gas is used….lighting wont do much to help the fire. the firemen will then figure out the fire type and then uses the correct hose for the fire. DEB all while doing A and forget C unless gas is being used and it is safe for you to do so.

Based on your description we can eliminate the following:

B – a fire extinguisher would likely be useless against a major fire. (Not to mention that during an actual fire is not the time to start trying to “locate” the fire extinguiser, you should already know where it is!)

E – what difference does it make to you what kind of fire it is? It’s major – that’s good enough reason to split. Sure, it makes a difference to the fire department but that’s not you, so let it go.

C – the electricity shut off is probably located in the basement – where the fire is!

    D. the fire alarm has already been raised so calling the fire department again is only wasting precious time you could spend…

EVACUATING THE BUILDING!! so the correct answer is A

  8. squeederdork says:

    A, always A, followed by D

Unless you have the training and experience to douse the fire, get the hell out of the building and get everyone else out of the building

  9. Dave aka Spider Monkey says:

    A Why?

major fire would need more than a fire extinguisher to put it out
turning off the electricity would cause a general panic especially since it is a major fire
call emergency personnel would be done simultaneously with evacuating the building
type of fire can be determined by emergency personnel who have the means to put out any type of fire

  10. Elmyr says:

It’s A, but there’s no “why” about it. Getting everyone out of the building by the designated evacuation route is the first rule of fire safety, period, no exceptions, end of discussion.
