does your telephone company charge you if you call 911 and it is a false alarm?

I was at my brother in law’s house and my little nephew called 911 from the house because he got mad at his mom… the police came and they saw it was a false alarm… my question is..do they charge you for that?

    They charge regardless.

    No, the local phone company charges a 911 tax on the bill but not for actually calling 911.

    No. How would the phone company know one way or the other?
    Or what if it’s not your emergency? Even if your cell phone is disconnected, as long as there is battery life you can call 911.
    I can’t imagine a home phone would be any different. Besides, most 911 services are paid for by taxes in your community.

    911 is ALWAYS a free call it doesn’t matter if the call is made from a house phone, cell phone or even a pay phone. If too many false alarms are called into 911 you or who ever made the call would be in trouble with the authorities.
