		<description>because most thief&#039;s will just go to your neighbors house without one and avoid the trouble of cutting phone lines,  it could also go threw the cable or have a high decibel siren to alert neighbors or maybe CCTV. but its all for show and to keep honest people honest  if Sime one really wants in there gonna get in. bonus though alot of them will call the FD in case it detects smoke or whatever and your insurance will get a discount with some carriers</description>

Most modern systems use a line signal that when it is dropped (like a cut line) triggers the alarm at the monitoring station.

Some still use dialers....but they have your mentioned short fall.
