How do i go about activating the alarm that is already in my house?

I just moved into a house that has an alarm system wired into it and everything. It’s a “magnum alert.” My question is how do i go about activating it? Do i have to go through the company that installed it or does that matter? Can i go through any alarm company? Thanks!
Hopefully you can find the operators manual for that alarm, if not contact that company for assistance. If you use a different company you might have to pay for installation of new system as the new company will say we cannot use the old system with our system. It is possible they could use your old system but can you trust them to tell you the truth?
