if not what courses should i take at a community college to work towards being a lawyer?
No—and you can’t do this at a community college. You need a BA or BS degree from a university to be law school eligible.
Studying to be a paralegal prepares you to be a paralegal, not an attorney!
In order to go to law school, you have to first earn a bachelor’s degree – an associates degree is not enough.
What you choose to major in doesn’t matter – choose something that you will do well in because your grades are very important. Also, work on becoming an excellent writer because that will serve you well, in law school as well as when you become a lawyer.
It doesn’t really matter what particular courses you take at the community college level, just be sure they will help you to earn your undergraduate degree… and make sure you do very well in them. I cannot stress enough how much your gpa matters in the law school admissions process!! To get into law school, you need to make sure that your gpa is excellent and that your lsat score is also exceptional.
