It’s a lot more complicated than that. If you want a fill assessment done of your computer, you need to consult a computer security professional.
hmmm…suspicious…like, you would’nt be hiding anything would you? lol! Some people are so obvious.
Of course it won’t stop them!! They can get your IP (which you can’t hide) and then from there, it’s just a matter of hitching a ride to your place.
yes they still can do that …u zone alarm may help not to access ur computer , but tracking ur computer is something else they do not need to access ur pc all what they need ur IP address to track u, but these process is complicated and cost a lot , so they just do that in the huge criminal , and also they need a strong help from the web sites and the companies like Microsoft or Google ..
dude they can do what ever they want but i think just for asking this question they might want to pay a visit to your computer what do you got to hide that you dont want them to see a word from the wize i dont think id ask questions like this if your worried about people lookin at you all these questions are watched i saw one that got taken off awile ago so be care ful if your hidding somthin
Your best bet is to use a software that hide your IP or change your IP address and Mac address.
MAC address, short for Media Access Control address, is a unique code assigned to most forms of networking hardware. The address is permanently assigned to the hardware, so limiting a wireless network’s access to hardware — such as wireless cards — is a security feature employed by closed wireless networks. But an experienced hacker — armed with the proper tools — can still figure out an authorized MAC address, masquerade as a legitimate address and access a closed network.
Also, if the police as sufficient material to continue a investigation they may ask to get a warrant from a judge to cease the computer and investigate what is on the hardrive.
I doubt though the police will look at your computer.
If you are using a P2P program to download pirated music, video, etc., you are risking getting caught and a huge fine. A firewall want protect you. The monitoring is being done outside your computer. There is no way to prevent this except by using say wifi at a public location with a laptop.
If you have a pirated Windows program that you are worried about, a firewall want help you there either.
Having a p2p program is not illegal. It is what you download.
Care to say what program you are worried about?
I agree with teef_au, this issue is slightly more complicated. There are methods of masking your travels on the Internet, however nothing is ever 100% secure.
Firewalls, like Zone Alarm, when properly configured, can add a additional layer of security when your computer is connected to the Internet. I believe the best defence against on-line threats, is to a utilize layers of security, rather than just one piece of software/hardware. So implement a firewall, use an up-to-date browser, install an anti-virus suite, don’t download content you are unsure of, etc.
A combination of security software and good computer habits will reduce your exposure substantially.
Yes they can access your pc its a simple process, why must ppl try to hide things that they shouldnt have? If the police want whats on your pc and or HD they can and will get it, its the police geeez.
