I’m about to drive into Mexico for 3 months. i do not have american car insurance. i want to buy mexican ins.?

   You need to get a permit to import your american car into mexico the longest permit is for six months and you will require american car insurance in order to get the permit

   I don’t remember being asked for my American Insurance when I got my Mexican Car Insurance. We used Lewis & Lewis because you can buy it on-line.

   You will also need to provide your car title in your name and if you have a lien on the car, a letter from the bank giving you permission to drive it into Mexico when you cross the border and get your car sticker.

   I had the same situation, I contacted my buddy at Mexsurance.com and he said he can write you a policy valid in Mexico without US insurance. Email him or go to the site
