How to find House Alarm Codes for our new home?

Not sure if anybody could help me, but I am just wondering what would be the best way to go about this.

We closed on our new home last Tuesday and the house has an alarm. We have not hooked up the system yet, but we need to turn it off. We tested the smoke detector last night and that triggered the alarm. It would not shut off, it kept telling us there was a fire. So, my fiance ripped the wire out of the wall temporarily in fears of disturbing our new neighbors.

We tried to deactivate the fire warning, but we don’t have the proper code. The previous owner did not leave a manual or the code in case of anything. Should we call our real estate agent so they can contact the seller’s agent to find a code? The alarm company couldn’t help us.

Thanks for your help…hopefully somebody else had this same problem and they can suggest to me what to do.

I would like to have an alarm system installed in my house using an independent contractor so I can buy a better system for cheap and then negotiate my monitoring contract with a company. My electrician says he doesn’t do it. Is this unheard of in the industry? What kind of contractor would do this kind of installation?

How can I find a smoke alarm that makes a LOWER frequency? Can’t hear high pitched sounds.?

I have some hearing loss and can’t hear high pitched sounds — such as smoke alarms and CO detectors. Is there a company that makes a smoke alarm with a lower frequency that I could hear? I’ve looked at strobe light alarms but don’t really feel like that would be as good as having something I could hear. Thank you.

I had a contract with an alarm company and they promised that if we moved to a new house they would install a new system and our contract would continue there. When we moved they never called us back to set up installation so I called them back and spoke to a supervisor. He basically said they wouldn’t move the services but I would still have to pay. I told him to look at my contract to see that it said that it did in fact include a move, he put me on hold and came back and said they could not locate my contract. My question now is, since they can’t find my contract can they really hold me to it?

I am an American living in Germany for a while and would like to have “American” car insurance. I did have insurance with Germans, but….lets just say they are not the ones I want to continue business with.
