Not sure if anybody could help me, but I am just wondering what would be the best way to go about this.

We closed on our new home last Tuesday and the house has an alarm. We have not hooked up the system yet, but we need to turn it off. We tested the smoke detector last night and that triggered the alarm. It would not shut off, it kept telling us there was a fire. So, my fiance ripped the wire out of the wall temporarily in fears of disturbing our new neighbors.

We tried to deactivate the fire warning, but we don’t have the proper code. The previous owner did not leave a manual or the code in case of anything. Should we call our real estate agent so they can contact the seller’s agent to find a code? The alarm company couldn’t help us.

Thanks for your help…hopefully somebody else had this same problem and they can suggest to me what to do.

We have an alarm system that we don’t use at all. It came from an old owner since we bought a house that was previously owned. We don’t have the code or anything. recently it started beeping. My bf activated the alarm when he was trying to turn off the annoying beeping noise. this obviously led to an even worse problem as the alarm goes off anytime we open the door. So anytime I have to open the door I have to turn off the circuit breaker for the alarm. So what should I do call the alarm company? Why can you activate a system thats not even being used or paid for without a code but need one to turn it off? Ugh I’m so annoyed
Anything I can do that doesn’t involve calling the previous house owner?

First let me say that im paying monthly for the security system. its is on all doors and my dad has a business so he has to have a lot of money in my house.

so someone broke in and went broke into my dads safe and took the money and left. they broke in from the back door, and went upstairs and broke into the safe and took the money. First off, the alarm was on and was on away which means there is a sensor and if someone or something moves in the house, the alarm goes off. this alarm did not go off. and the house was broken into so it should have went off. and there is also another problem. when we tested it, the alarm turned on and then we waited for like 10 minutes. no cops came and no phone call came. we called the security system company and they said that there was no record from before and not now. THE ALARM NEVER WENT THROUGH AND THEY NEVER NOTICED.

the burglars took 20,000 dollars cash from my dads safe.

is it our fault that the security system didnt work or theirs? can i sue them because it didnt work? we pay the monthly fee. its their responsibility to fix it if something is wrong and to find out if something is wrong. they arent supposed to wait for a house to get robbed.

we called the police and wrote the report but i doubt they can do anything

we called the detective and he did a search. we have proof that we had 20,000 dollars in the house and it was stolen. no fingerprints were found

they jammed a crowbar in the bottom of the safe and bent it open. it wasnt that expensive of a safe. it was a regular big one which you can break into. dont give me crap that we should have bought a more expensive stronger safe.

so can i sue the alarm company or not? their alarm system is faulty.

Would anyone know how to connect house alarm telephone wires to the main telephone line coming into a house. I need to know what color wire goes to what color. To rerun some telephone wires, I disconnected four telephone wires (Red, Green, Black & Yellow) to my house burglar alarm from the main telephone connection coming into my house. When I reconnected them, red to red, black to black, green to green, yellow to yellow, my two line telephone would not work correctly. In case of an emergency, the house alarm, disconnects anyone on the telephone and contacts the alarm company. To accomplish this task, the alarm telephone wires connect to the main telephone connection in a non-intuitive manner. Many thanks in advance.
